Antique Framed 1870 Godey's Fashions September Color Print Kimmel & Forster NY

Up for sale is a beautiful, authentic piece of 19th-century history: an original hand-colored Victorian fashion plate titled "Godey’s Fashions for September 1870".

This folding illustration was originally published as a monthly supplement inside the famous Godey's Lady's Book magazine to showcase upscale women's attire for the upcoming autumn season. It was expertly engraved and lithographed by the renowned historical printing firm Kimmel & Forster, N.Y., whose signature mark is clearly visible along the bottom center margin.

The artwork features Victorian women elegantly styled in ornate, detailed bustle gowns, elaborate ruffles, puffed sleeves, and layered skirts typical of high-fashion styles in 1870.
