About this find

Beautiful Vintage Two-Tone Hand-Carved African Wooden Bust Sculpture

Up for sale is a stunning, vintage hand-carved African figural bust. This striking piece is carved from a single piece of exotic hardwood (resembles high-quality African ebony or ironwood) and masterfully showcases a dual-texture contrast.

The artisan beautifully polished the dense, dark inner heartwood to create a sleek, stylized profile of a face. The lighter, raw outer bark is left intact at the base and atop the head to represent a traditional headpiece or a carried load. This organic-modern style is highly characteristic of East African Makonde artistry.

Condition:

Excellent vintage condition. The wood shows beautiful natural grain patterns, rich patina, and organic imperfections inherent to authentic hand-carved folk art. No major cracks or damage. Please inspect all photos closely as they serve as the primary description of the item's condition.
